The history, the churches, the saints, the art, it’s one breathtaking moment after another. Explore the life of St. Charles Borromeo as we find him in the sacred treasures of Rome, the Duomo in Milan, and holy sites in between!

      It’s a pilgrimage set in one of the most gorgeous countries in the world, with cities, sunsets, food, and wine that are simply unforgettable. And through it all you’ll be reminded of the fullness of God and the life He’s given us.

    • Across the Atlantic ~ Arrival in Rome

      Depart the USA today on board your overnight transatlantic jet flight to Rome, arriving the following day. Enjoy a full meal service as well as in-flight entertainment such as movies, music, etc.

      Your spiritual pilgrimage begins with your arrival in Rome. After arriving at our Vatican guesthouse, we will prayerfully start our pilgrimage with Mass in the guesthouse chapel and a brief orientation meeting followed by time to freshen up.

      After lunch, we will take a leisurely walk to St. Peter’s Square and enter the breathtaking St. Peter’s Basilica. The afternoon and evening is free to explore St. Peter’s Basilica and the surrounding area.

    Day 3 - May 8
    • Papal Audience ~ St. John Lateran ~ Holy Steps ~ Holy Cross in Jerusalem

      After an early breakfast with the sisters, we leave for St. Peter's Square to get front row seats for the Wednesday Papal Audience. After the audience, we will have time for lunch and to return our newly blessed items to our rooms.

      After lunch, we will visit the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the official Cathedral of the Pope. Afterwards, we will cross the street for the blessed opportunity to ascend the Holy Steps, the very steps that Christ ascended to meet with Pontius Pilate.

      Lastly, we will make our way to the church called Holy Cross in Jerusalem. This church houses some of the holiest relics in Rome including pieces of the True Cross, A nail from the crucifixion, and the finger that Doubting Thomas placed into the holy side of Christ! After venerating the holy relics, we will celebrate Mass in the main basilica. The eveing is free to explore Rome during our final overnight in the Eternal City!

    Day 4 - May 9
    • Chapels of St. Charles Borromeo ~ Our Journey to Florence

      After breakfast & Mass at the guesthouse, we will depart for a morning dedicated to St. Charles Borromeo. Our first stop will be Chiesa Nuova. St. Charles Borromeo has a chapel dedicated to him in this breathtaking church. Additionally, we will pray at the body of St. Philip Neri (d. 1595), enshrined in the left transept. We will also be able to view the private rooms of St. Philip before departing the church.

      From there, we travel to San Carlo ai Catinari (Saint Charles at the Catinari). This beautiful church is dedicated to St Charles Borromeo. The painting above the main altar depicts St. Charles Borromeo leading a procession of the faithful. After taking a moment for prayer, we will make our way back to Vatican City for lunch. 

      Following lunch, we will check out of the guesthouse and board our luxury motorcoach destined for Florence: Dante's city, Renaissance jewel, center of art and architechture. After checking into our Tuscan hotel, the evening will be free to explore and shop on your own. Dinner and overnight in Florence

    Day 5 - May 10
    • Florence: Jewel of the Renaissance 

      After breakfast, we will have the opportunity to participate in a private, guided tour of the city of Florence. Amongst other sites, we will visit Michelangelo's "David" in the Accademia, the Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore) and the Baptistery with its golden doors. We will continue throughout the Renaissance with visits to the various palaces and buildings up to the River Arno.

      After lunch, the afternoon is scheduled free time to visit some of the sites that interest you the most. We will gather back together as a group in the late afternoon to shuttle to a local Tuscan winery where we will enjoy an evening of wine tasting and a traditional 4-course Tuscan dinner. Overnight in Florence.

    Day 6 - May 11
    • Our Journey to Trent


      After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and board the motorcoach for our journey to Trent with lunch en route.

      Upon our arrival in Trent, we will receive a tour of the city focusing on the Council of Trent and the participation of St. Charles Borromeo. Our tour includes the main square with the Basilica Duomo di St. Vigilius, patron of the city, and the Buonconsiglio Castle. After Mass, the evening will be free to dine, shop, and explore the city. Overnight in Trent.
    Day 7 - May 12
    • Trent ~ Lake Garda ~ Milan

      After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and head to Mass. Following Mass, we will board our motorcoach and depart for Milan. On the way, we will visit the breathtaking Lake Garda and admire the charming small towns of the Garda Riviera. We will start at Bardolino and visit the famous Olive Oil Museum and move on to the frescoes of San Severo Church. Afterwards, we will visit Lazise, known as the Venice of Garda, with medieval town walls and a castle built by the Scaligeri family from Verona. Before lunch, we will drive to the Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino in Peschiera del Garda, a powerful site of the apparition of Our Lady of Consulation of the Afflicted.

      Following lunch, we will continue on our way to Milan. We will have the opportunity to stretch our legs and explore the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and Institute of Pope Saint John XXIII in Bergamo before arriving in Milan. Overnight in Milan.
    Day 8 - May 13
    • A Day in Milan

      Following breakfast, we will have to opportunity to participate in a private, guided tour of Milan. First, we will visit the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio which contains the tomb of St. Ambrose. We continue onto the Duomo, the most magnificent Gothic building in Northern Italy. While there, we will celebrate Mass at the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo. We will see the Sforzesco Castle and the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie with the famous Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage.

      Following lunch, the remainder of the day is scheduled free time for rest, exploration, dining, and shopping. Overnight in Milan.

    Day 9 - May 14
    • Stresa ~ Borromean Island ~ Rocca di Angera

      Following breakfast and Mass, we will board the motorcoach for a day trip you won't soon forget! We first visit the lakeshore town of Stresa and Lake Maggiore, were we will be able to experience the lakefront promenade with its quaint homes, apartments, and excellent shopping. Enjoy a boat ride to the Borromeo Islands, owned by the Borromeo family since the 16th century! Isola Bella is the most famous of these, with its sumptuous palace with invaluable art pieces and majestic Italian Gardens.

      Following lunch we will transfer to see the Rocca di Angera, also called Borromeo Castle, a lakeside hilltop on the Southern shores of Lake Maggiore. See its wonderful colors of 14th-century frescos. Upon our return back to Milan, the evening is free to dine and shop the magnificent city!
    Day 10 & 11 - May 15 & 16
    • Certosa di Pavia Monastery ~ Pavia~ Milan ~ Our Journey Back Home

      Following breakfast, we will board our motorcoach and depart for the one hour drive to the historic Carthusian Monastery and complex in Pavia, built in the 14th centry by the Duke of Milan as a family mausoleum. It is one of the largest monasteries in Italy.

      Following Mass at the monastery, we will journey to pray at the tomb of St. Augustine of Hippo, Doctor of the Church. Additionally, we will visit the Basilica of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro with chapels dedicated to St. Monica, the mother of St. Augustine. Additionally, we will have the chance to view both the University of Pavia and the Collegio Borromeo, both having strong ties to St. Charles Borromeo.

      Following lunch, we will return back to Milan where we will enjoy one final free evening before we depart back home. 

      The next morning, with vivid memories of Italy, we transfer to the Milan Airport (MXP) and board the return flight back to the USA, arriving the same day.
